Vehicle driver illness or sleep detector - uses sensors on steering wheel and in front of driver to operate motor actuating brake pedal in event of driver malfunction

If the driver of a motor vehicle falls ill or asleep and releases the steering wheel or is not in his normal driving position the brake of the vehicle is operated and ignition and fuel supply cut off. The steering wheel detector operates by being earthed by the driver's touch. An electronic circuit operates a relay when the driver releases the steering wheel. The position detector is placed in front of the driver so if he slumps forward an electronic circuit operates a relay. If either relay is operated an alarm sounds, a warning light is activated and an electric motor operates a linkage to the brake pedal and stops the vehicle. The relay contacts can also be used to cut off ignition and fuel supply.
