The distributor feeds earth clods to a dispatch belt (19) without using the thrust from the fabricating machine or the advancing clod column. The mass of the last row of clods is used to stop the feed at the exact site of separation, using a rocking axle (5) to drive a return sprung (9) push-rod (7) actuating a lever (12,13) displacing a drive roller (16) onto the underside of the belt. Tongues sited under a distribution grill (4) deflect under the mass of the clod, rotate the shaft through a part turn, and bring about rod displacement through the intermediary of a crank (6). The rod may have counter cranking (8), its return spring may be stopped (10), and its free end (11) may displace the compass fulcrum. The compass extends between a fixed point (14) and the roller axle (15), and the roller is driven by a pinion (17) suspended on a pivot arm (18).
