THE PRESENT INVENTION CONCERNS A PROCESS, IN THE VAPOR PHASE, FOR THE DEPOSIT OF AT LEAST ONE PROTECTIVE COATING ON A METAL PART, SUCH COATING BEING BASED ON ALUMINUM, CHROME OR TITANIUM FROM A DERIVATIVE OF THESE METALS OR OF ' ALLOYS OR MIXTURES OF THESE VARIOUS METALS BY REACTION OF THE SURFACE OF THE SAID METAL PIECE, SUITABLY HEATED IN AN ENCLOSURE, WITH A HALOGENIDE OF THE METAL TO BE DEPOSITED FORM BY REACTION IN THE ENCLOSURE BETWEEN A HALOGENIC CHEMICAL COMPOUND ON A DONOR CONSTITUTED BY THE METAL DEPOSIT OR AN ALLOY BASED ON THE METAL TO BE DEPOSITED, POSSIBLY IN THE PRESENCE OF ANOTHER CHEMICAL REAGENT, CHARACTERIZED IN THAT SUCH DONOR IS IN THE FORM OF A THIN SHEET 1-2 WHOSE SURFACE IS OF THE SAME ORDER OF SIZE AS THAT OF THE PIECE TO BE REVERTIR 4 LOCATED IN FRONT OF THE SAID SHEET.
