The device includes a transporter (28) for the supporting core, (2) a tensioner (22-24) for the core, and (3) a receiving winder (25) where the core is held in tension over sufficient distance for the frictional forces between the fibre and the core to prevent their relative translation. The tensioning device comprises two pulleys (23,24) running on a fixed axis, and a weighted (P) intermediary pulley wheel (22) fixed to a moving arm (55) which is pivoted round the axis of one of the fixed pulleys (24). The feeding speed of the core is automatically governed by the position of the arm. As the fibre exits from the winder (25), the tension on carrier element (57) is released and the latter is wound loosely around a reel (29).
