The glazed counter is for use by bakers or other retailers and comprises a base (1) with front (4), rear (3) and side (2) panels in either mineral or synthetic glass. The front and rear panels together with a floor and a cover panel are incorporated in a trapezoidal box section, the front (4) and part (6) of the cover being in a curved single piece of glass. The remainder of the cover panel comprises a separate flat ceramic, wood or glass plate (5). The inboard edge of the plate stands proud (9) of the frontal part (6) of the cover and the frontal panel combination (4,6) may pivot about its intersection (7) with the floor panel.
