The arrangement includes a female ferrule (1) which supports a spherical lens (2) in an approp. shaped recess. The end of the fibre (5) is held within a sleeve (4) which fits into the recess in the ferrule. A collar (6) around this sleeve fits into a corresp. channel inside the ferrule to retain the fibre. The ferrule is made of an elastically deformable material, so that the insertion of the collar may be a snap fitting. The whole ferrule is mounted in a panel (11) with a channel around its outer edge matching the panel edge around the mounting hole. The arrangement may be used to form an indicator light in a panel with light received via the optical fibre.
