Tool change feed for machine tool - uses rotary ring magazine to feed tools under bar on pillar slide with piston rod in bar rising to lock tool in place

The tool change feed serves a machine, using a bracket (8) on a pillar-slide (5) to site a vertically displaceable tool-bar (10) over a work table (3). An annular plate magazine (14) with tools (15) located in external radial notches is mounted on the pillar, rotated by a motorised (23) pinion (25) travelling on a crown wheel (17) to bring successive tools under the bar. It uses an inwardly retractable forked locking slide (34) to secure each tool. A piston rod (38) engages a pin (35) to retract a locking slide and release a tool of which the head has been engaged by the foot of the bar. The latter engagement is effected by magazine rotation and uses a hammer shaped draw-bar foot (31,32) entering a tool head (28) groove of the reciprocal form. The tool is then secured by actuating the draw-bar to pull the head into a tapered split sleeve (30) on the foot of the tool-bar.
