Bar feed magazine with split bearings - feeds of bar stock into head stock of machine tool

The device consists of a feed magazine (6, 7) associated with a machine tool in which is loaded bar stock (5). Sets of split bearings (8, 9) are fitted in blocks (10, 4) so that the top half of the bearing (9) moves radially upwards actioned by a cam system (11-13), and the bottom half of the bearing moves laterally actioned by a double action jack (38). In operation, the top half bearing moves upwards and the bottom half bearing moves underneath the bar magazine to receive a new bar (5). The bar is fetched by the return of the bottom half bearing (8) and, on closing the top bearing, the bar is fed into the head stock of the machine. When a new bar has been fetched, an extractor device (21-25, 28, 29, 32-34) takes its place, and its rod (21) penetrates inside the head stock of the machine to seize and remove the waste end bit of the bar using the gripping device (22, 28, 29). USE/ADVANTAGE - As a bar feed for a machine tool where two separate operations are carried out effectively by the one device.
