Fixing pin for complex fracture of upper humerus - has pair of curved blades inserted axially into bone and joined at upper end by staple

The fracture fixing pin is made up of a pair of curved elastic blades (1,2) which touch at their tips and are joined together at their upper ends by a staple (4). The staple has a pair of depending teeth (5) which are driven into the two upper parts of the fractured bone. A fixing block (3) is also attached to the upper ends of the blades and the staple is fixed onto its upper face. The blades are pref. 1.2 mm thick and are separated by a max. distance of 25 mm at their centres.
