A nozzle to atomize a liquid in the ascension pipe of a coke oven consists of at least one additional cylindrical vortex chamber which has a separate tangential inlet for the liquid and a separate axial nozzle opening from the first. The two vortex chambers have a different diameter and are joined to each other by an overflow port in the partition between them.
