Compsns. contg. A (I) and/or (II) together with B. sulphurous acid, sodium formaldehyde sulphoxylate, 2-, 3- or 4-pyridyl hydroxymethane sulphonic acid, or their salts, are new (where M1 and M2=H, an alkali or alkaline earth metal cation, Cu, Zn, Ni, Mn, a choline cation, an ammonium cation, or an ammonium cation substd. by 1, 2 or 3 of 1-4C alkylene, A is a mineral or organic acid, and n is 0, 1/2 or 1). Pref. (I) is SF-1293 and (II) is L-M AMPB or DL-AMPB. Pref. M1 and M3 represent Na, K, isopropylammonium, n-butylammonium or isobutylammonium,. Suitable salts of sulphurous acid include sodium hydrogen sulphite, sodium sulphite,and sodium formaldehyde bisulphite HOCH2SO3Na. The wt. ratio of A to B is pref. within the range 1:0.1-100.
