An electro-erosion spark machining system, specially for deep and narrow or complex cavities, is fitted with several ultrasonic funnels, consisting of electromechanical transducers and amplifier horns. Their vibration imparting surfaces contact the tool set-up at several selected points and transmit mechanical vibrations to at least one electrode. The ultrasonic vibrations are applied along a plane at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the tool set-up. This does not restrict the ultrasonic activity to a certain area of the electrode working surface but spreads it uniformly over this surface. The result is a higher machining rate.
