TRANSVERSE FLUX INDUCTION HEATING OF METAL STRIP

An installation comprises a support frame having a plurality of locations each of which is capable of supporting a transverse flux induction heater (5) (6) (7). The locations are movable so that in turn they can take up a position adjacent a path (2) taken by moving metal strip (1) to be heated. From this position, the heater supported in the location can be displaced to an operating position where the two elements (5A) (5B) of the heater are on opposite sides of the strip (1) passing along said path (2).
