SURFACE MODIFICATION COMPOSITION FOR VULCANIZED RUBBER AND SURFACE MODIFICATION METHOD THEREWITH

PURPOSE:A composition that is obtained by effecting uniform dispersion of an easily halogen-releasing halogenoid and an inorganic filler in a wax substance, thus enabling modification only on the surface of the vulcanized rubber by no use of a polar solvent with no adverse effect on flexural properties and showing high storability. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is composed of an easily halogen-releasing halogenoid such as a compound having N,N-dihaloslufonamide groups of formula I , II (X is halogen residue; R, R' are 1-6C aliphatic hydrocarbon residue and R' is further H; Ar is formula III, IV; m, n are 1-3), a wax substance melting at a temperature lower than 100 deg.C and an inorganic filler where the content of the inorganic filler is 15-80% on the total basis and 0.6-20 times the weight amount of the halogenoid, further no solvent is included. The resultant composition is coated on the surfaces of vulcanized rubber and the surface is heated at 60-150 deg.C to effect modification.
