Surface modified silica modification method of a rubber composition and a silica containing it

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide surface-modified silica having improved dispersibility in rubber and enhanced bonding property to rubber molecules, and a rubber composition using the silica and capable of exhibiting features of silica not obtained by conventional silica blend, such as a reinforcing property, a low heat generating property and wear resistance.;SOLUTION: The surface-modified silica is obtained by treating silica with 0.1-20 wt.% of a vinyl monomer based on the weight of the silica to impregnate the vinyl monomer into pores in the silica particle surface and by polymerizing the vinyl monomer by radical polymerization with heat or light to hydrophobize and modify the silica particle surface. The rubber composition contains 20-100 pts.wt. of the surface-modified silica based on 100 pts.wt. of diene rubber.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
