PURPOSE:To isolate T-cells and B-cells of lymphocytes at a high purity and a high recovery in a manner such that the cell walls and cell functions are not spolied, by using a water-insoluble solid material containing acidic functional group. CONSTITUTION:An adsorbent in use consists of a water-insoluble solid material containing acidic functional group. This water-insoluble solid material has not less than 0.05ml equivalent of functional group dissociated from anion, per 1ml of the mentioned material, in an aqueous solution of a pH of not less than 6 and not more than 8. When a lymphocyte-floated liquid is brought into contact with this adsorbent at a high temperature, B-cells are adsorbed thereto but T-cells are not since the adhesion of B-cells at a high temperature is higher than that of T-cells and since the negative electric charge in T-cells at a high temperature is greater than that in B-cells. The T-cells which are not adsorbed to the adsorbent are then is olated. When an impact or an external pressure is thereafter applied to the B-cells which have been adsorbed to the adsorbent or when the temperature is reduced to a low level to cause the adhesion of the B-cells to be lost, the B-cells are removed from the adsorbent to attain the isolation thereof.
