PURPOSE:To prevent the phenomenon of arc-over back of the overhead electric main and also reduce the distance between adjacent cables to reduce the size of the transmission tower by supporting the transmission cables with insulators having an inner lightening guard device between adjacent phase cables. CONSTITUTION:A lightening arrester element 4 made from a non-linear resistor obtained by high temperature sintering of a material mainly composed of zinc oxide is accommodated in a hollow elongate main insulator 1. Thus, an insulator 13 containing a lightening arrester having a very superior non-linear characteristic and capable of cutting continual current at the time of action can be obtained. The elongate main insulator 1 and a flange 2 are bonded together in a cemented section 3 and connected to the upper support via a metal lid 5 and a connecting pin 7. These insulators are connected between adjacent phases of the overhead electric main at the tower. In this way, it is possible to suppress lightening hazards by preventing the phenomenon of arc-over back and also reduce the size of the tower by reducing the distance between adjacent transmission line cables.
