摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled novel high polymeric complex useful as a photochemical reaction catalyst used for an oxidation reduction reaction, etc., by reacting a polymer having aminostyrene units with a 2,2'-bipyridyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid, and reacting the reaction product with a specific ruthenium complex. CONSTITUTION:A polymer having aminostyrene units expressed by formula I is dissolved in a solvent, e.g. dimethylformamide, and reacted with a solution of 2,2'- bipyridyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid in dimethylformamide in the presence of triethylamine to give a polymer having 2,2'-bipyridyl units. The resultant polymer is then reacted with bis(2,2'-bipyridyl)ruthenium complex to afford the aimed novel complex containing units expressed by formula II (R1 and R2 may be the same and 2,2'- bipyridyl compounds, etc.; p is 1 or 2; X is anion, n is an integer 0-20).
