Polymeric metal complexes are multifunctional materials1,2 with potential utility as targeted drug delivery vectors. Luminescent Ru tris(bipyridine) centers, for example, may serve as molecular probes in cell culture studies. The polymeric outer spheres may be elaborated for drug entrapment, protection, delivery, and targeting functions. To test this concept, research tools and potential therapeutics for prostate cancer research have been designed.
