Fabric for the mfr. of leisurewear, nightdresses, etc., comprises a, pref. knitted, fabric of 100% cotton yarn having a series of bands or stripes with a raised nap, pref. comprising brushed acrylic yarn. The acrylic yarn is inlaid in the base fabric, having a long surface float alternating with a rear float over a single wale at regular intervals. The fabric pref. has a weight of 175-200 g/sq.m, with an acrylic content of 30-40 %, knitted on an 18-gauge circular machine using cotton yarns of count Ne 1/24, S and Z, and Ne 1/8's acrylic yarns. This is a light, well-ventilated and absorbent fabric which produces comfortable garments.
