The brake comprises two brake shoe (L,R) carriers, pivoted together at a point (0) radially outside the wheel tyre. A wire spring secured to the wheel fork (at A,B) acts on the carriers (at C,D) in outward directions and the brake is operated via a sheathed cable, having the sheath secured (E) to the side of one, and the slide cable to the same side of the other carrier (at F). - To maximise the force available for actual braking, the spring only provides the force to release the shoes. Unilateral rotation of the carrier assembly is prevented by a stop arranged on the wheel fork and engaged by one carrier only as its shoe (R) is released. FL(1/1)
