Additive for compsns. based on aq. dispersions of high mol.wt. (co)polymers or polycondensates contg. opt. neutralised acid gps. (I) comprises bi-, tri- or tetravalent metal (hydr) oxides or basic salts dispersed in a non aq. liquid phase, these metal cpds. reacting with the acid gps. (I). - The copolymers or polycondensates are pref. acrylics, methacrylics, styrene-acrylic, vinyl esters, vinyl(idene) chloride, styrene-butadiene, acrylonitrile, polyurethane, chloroprene neoprene and/or silicone. They pref. have good saponification resistance.
