The method of reinforcing the walls of a tank which is subjected to a pressure gradient, e.g. hydrostatic pressure which increases with depth, comprises surrounding the walls of the tank with a reinforcing frame which is made up of interconnected triangular sections. - The forces experienced by the walls of the tank are calculated at a variety of different depths with the result that as the depth increases, the size of the triangular sections becomes smaller and the rigidity of the frame increases accordingly.
