N-Phenylsulphonyl-N'-pyrimidinyl- and -triazinyl-ureas of the formula I IMAGE where A is a radical of the formula -CR6R7-XR8,-CR9R10R11 or -CHR7-S-CQ-R21, R1 is hydrogen, halogen, nitro, cyano, C1-C4-alkyl, C1-C4-haloalkyl, -Y-R14, -CO-NR12R13, -NR12R13, -SO-NR15R16, -O-SO2-R17 or -CO-R18, R2 is hydrogen, halogen, C1-C4-alkyl, C1-C4-alkoxy, C1-C4-alkylthio, C1-C4-alkylsulphinyl or C1-C4-alkylsulphonyl, R3 and R4 independently of one another are hydrogen, halogen, C1-C4- alkyl, C1-C4-haloalkyl, C1-C4-alkoxy, C1-C4-haloalkoxy, C1-C4-alkylthio, C1-C4-haloalkylthio, C2-C5-alkoxyalkyl or -NR19R20, R5 is hydrogen, C1-C4-alkyl or C1-C4-alkoxy, R6 is hydrogen, C1-C4-alkyl or fluorine, R7 is hydrogen or methyl, R8 is C1-C4-haloalkyl having no more than 2 halogen atoms, C2-C5- alkoxyalkyl, C2-C5-haloalkenyl, C3-C5-alkynyl or C1-C4- cyanoalkyl, R9 is hydrogen, halogen, C1-C4-alkyl, C1-C4-alkoxy, C1-C4-alkylthio, C1-C4-alkylsulphinyl or C1-C4-alkylsulphonyl, R10 is hydrogen, halogen or methyl, R11 is a radical -CO-R24 or a C1-C4-alkyl radical which is monosubstituted or polysubstituted by substituents from the group comprising cyano, nitro, hydroxyl, C1-C4-alkoxy, C1-C4-alkylthio, C1-C4-alkylsulphinyl C1-C4-alkylsulphonyl, C1-C4-haloalkoxy, C1-C4-haloalkylthio, -CO-R18, -S-CO-R18, -O-CO-R18, -NR12R13, -CO- NR12R13, -O-SO2-R17 or -SO2-NR15R16, it being possible for this C1-C4- alkyl radical to be additionally substituted by one or more halogen atoms, R12 and R13 independently of one another are hydrogen or C1-C4-alkyl, R14 is C2-C5-alkenyl, C2-C5-haloalkenyl, C1-C4-alkyl, C1-C4-haloalkyl or C2-C5-alkoxyalkyl, R15 is hydrogen, C1-C4-alkyl or methoxy, R16 is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, R17 is C1-C4-alkyl, C1-C4-halogenoalkyl or -NR12R13, R18 is hydrogen, C1-C4-alkoxy, C1-C4-haloalkoxy, C1-C4-alkylthio, C1- C4-alkyl, C1-C4-haloalkyl or C2-C5-alkoxyalkoxy, R19 and R20 independently of one another are hydrogen or C1-C4- alkyl, R21 is C1-C4-alkyl, C1-C4-alkoxy, C1-C4-alkylthio, -NR22R23 or phenyl which is optionally substituted by halogen or C1-C4-alkyl, R22 is C1-C4-alkyl or methoxy, R23 is C1-C4-alkyl, R22 and R23 together are a 4- to 5-membered alkylene bridge which is optionally interrupted by oxygen or -NCH3-, R24 is hydrogen, C1-C4-alkyl or C1-C4-haloalkyl, E is nitrogen or the methylene bridge, Q and Z independently of one another are oxygen or sulphur and Y and X independently of one another are oxygen, sulphur, the sulphinyl bridge or sulphonyl bridge, and the salts of these compounds.
