The chassis of the hay-making machine has an upright axle on which rotates the wheel. The wheel shaft slants forwards and upwards. The hub of the wheel has four spokes enclosing an angle of ninety degrees between each. On the opposite ends of the spokes to the hub is a circular support, around which are fingers to turn over the crop. The tines may be fixed to the outer or inside circumference of the ring. The distance between two adjacent tines is less than the length of each tine, so that all the crop is touched. Each tine has its end bent downwards, preferably radially or backwards in relation to the wheel's rotation. Each tine is bolted to the support ring so that it can pivot in several directions.
