A method ,for current free formation of corrosion resistant layers onto aluminium articles containing at least at the welds 6 to 13 % and 0.01 to 2 % BI or 6 to 13 % Si and 0.001 to 1 % Be which comprises the folowing operational steps : - immersing the aluminium articles in an aqueous solution of 100-300 grams per liter NaOH and 10-30 grams per liter ZnO for 1-5 min ; - rinsing and drying.
