The drive motor is fitted in a screened area which is ventilated by vanes fitted on the rear side of the fan wheel. Cool air is sucked out of the screen area through the drive shaft hole, and its intake occurs through apertures leading to the surrounding atmosphere. The arrangement is partic. suited to exhaust gas fans, to obviate cooling problems with fans working in untoward locations.
