The oil-in-water emulsions are made by (1) preparing a mixt. of water and polyvinyl alcohol with mol. wt. 2000-125000 in which 11-28% of the hydroxyl groups present are acetylated; (2) adding an active ingredient as pesticide, selected from fluvalinate, permetrine, cipermetrine, dettametrine, fenpropatrine and fenvalerate; (3) agitating the mixt. at high speed; and (4) heating the mixt. at 60-70 deg. C with agitation until the active ingredient is dispersed with mean particle size below 1 micron.
