The control unit (10) comprises in coordinated cooperation: a one-pendulum balance beam (14), a transducer (19) to monitor the value of the displacement of the one- pendulum balance beam (14) and to convert that value into an electrical analogue signal, an analogue-digital converter to convert that signal, and a numerical display, programming means to pre-set the weight for each constituent to be weighed and a comparator to compare the value monitored with the pre-set value. The procedure for reading weight values using the weighing scale control unit (10) is one in which an analogue signal coming from the transducer (19) is converted into a digital signal by the converter and is then compared by the comparator with a value pre-set on the programming means in relation to the constituent being weighed.
