16-260Case 1431PROCESS FOR BLEACHING CELLULOSE PULP BY ACTIVATIONWITH NO2 AND OXYGEN AND ALKALI-EXTRACTION AT ELEVATEDTEMPERATURE WITH CELLULOSE DEGRADATIONABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA process is provided for delignifying bleaching chemicalcellulose pulp,contacting the pulp in an activation stage in thepresence of water with a gas phase containing NO2 and oxygen gas,so that intermediary NO is utilized for activating the pulp, followedby an alkali treatment of the pulp, both the activation stage andalkali treatment are carried out under drastic conditions, at sucha high temperature during the activation stage that a certain degrada-tion of the cellulose molecules is obtained, and at a temperatureof 95 to 150°C. during the alkali treatment over a treatment timeexceeding 45 minutes at 95°C.
