ABSTRACTA method and apparatus for resuscitating, administeringanesthesia to, or administering respiratory care to apatient is shown which allows greater rebreathing of mixedexpired gases thus improving humidification and heat retentionin the inspired gases. The inhalation breathing circuit mayinclude two concentric, non-kinking, corrugated tubes, onevisually apparent within the other, for handling both freshgases and mixed expired gases of the patient or the inhalationbreathing circuit may consist of a spiralled inflow tubecontained within the wall of the larger exhalation corregatedtube. An adjustable exhaust pressure valve maintains apredetermined pressure range for the gas being delivered to-and-fro between a breathing bag and the patient. Expiredgases vent through an anesthesia bacterial filter or may bescavenged to prevent environmental pollution. Suctioning ofthe patient may be performed without interrupting the freshgas flow or ventilation to the patient.
