COMPATIBLE BLENDS OF CHLORINATED POLYVINYL CHLORIDE RESINS AND STYRENE-MALEIC ANHYDRIDE RESINS

ABSTRACTA flame retardant blend of thermoplastic polymerscomprises a blend of 1-99 percent by weight of a chlorinatedpolyvinyl chloride resin and 1-99 percent by weight of acopolymer of styrene and an ethylenically unsaturateddicarboxylic acid monomer, the blend having a heat distor-tion temperature in excess of 200°F., and a single glasstransition property. Such blends which contain at least40 percent by weight of said chlorinated polyvinyl chlorideresin and an oxygen index of at least 0.25 also exhibitflame retardant properties.
