SOLVENT RESISTANT POLYSULFONE AND POLYETHERSULFONE COMPOSITIONS

ABSTRACTResins are prepared from polysulfone andpolyethersulfone polymers that bear functional groupsderived from compounds that are condensation productsof amino-phenols and acid anhydrides. The polymers areprepared by correacting aromatic compounds holding twohydroxyl groups, aromatic compounds holding two activehalogen groups, and the condensation product of amino-phenol and acid anhydride, the condensation productholding one hydroxyl group. The resulting product hasa molecular weight between about 1,000 and 40,000,preferably between about 5,000 and 30,000, and can becross-linked to form a resin that is thermoplastic andsolvent resistant.
