Compounds of general formula (A),whereinR¹ represents a C_1-4 alkyl group;X represents a residue of an acid;either B represents a group -COOR² (in which R² represents a C_1-4 alkyl group) and Z represents a group(in which R³ and R⁵, which may be the same or different, each represents a C_1-4 alkyl radical) or B represents a group -COOH or a hydrogen atom and Z represents a group -CH₂COOH, of use in the enantioselective synthesis of optically active 14-oxo-E-homo-eburnane derivatives.
