An inhibitor for corrosion caused by CO2 and H2 S in water-in-oil emulsions, consisting of a reaction product of A) an imidazoline or a salt thereof of the formula I see diagramm : EP0060455,P5,F3 or a precursor thereof of the formula Ia see diagramm : EP0060455,P5,F4 where R**1 is C6 -C22 alkyl or alkenyl, X is -OH, -NH2 or N(anion) H3 see diagramm : EP0060455,P5,F5 and R**2 is C4 -C18 -alkyl ; and B) elementary sulfur, obtained by reacting A) and B) at 100 to 200 degrees C in the course of 1 to 3 hours in a weight ratio of A to B of 100:1 to 2:1.
