A redundant memory element (10) of an E2PROM is used to replace the ROM elements or E2PROM defective or incorrectly encoded by the user module. An address programming element (12) comprising an E2PROM floating gate device (20) having a programmed mode, a non-scheduled mode, and mode of inhibition, can be programmed and erased in the module. Addresses as well as other inputs received by the redundant memory element determine the mode of the floating gate device.
