An adiabatic tube for firing a briquet is manufd. by molding ceramic fibers with a binder. Bulky ceramic fibers(20%) are mixed, stirred, and pulped with an inorganic binder solution(80%), comprising colloidal silica, alumina sol, aluminum sulphate, pearlite, and bentonite in a tank. A tube-like mold, which is empty inside and has many small holes in it, is placed into the tank. Ceramic fiber accumulates on the outer surface of the mold when air is removed from the mold by a vacuum pump. The molded ceramic fiber is dried at 110- 120C and cut into the required shape. It insulates 90% of a heat radiated and can be used at 1200C.
