An appts. for reproducing information from a record disc has an operational state for holding the disc without rotation when the disc is inserted into or withdrawed from the appts.. It also has a reproduction state for picking up signals from the disc when the disc is on a rotating turntable. A timer is also a part to the appts., for measuring the time of the holding state, a circuit for comparing the measured time with a present time. The appts. has a generator for producing a first control signal for setting the held disc on the turntable, when the measured time becomes equal to the present time.
