Method and apparatus for removing the cut Bari (burr) attached to the lower face of the slub

The arrangement is intended for removing the ridge of metal(4) remaining at the underside of the flame-cut edge of a longitudinally cut slab(2). The slab is placed and clamped with its underside on a horizontal roller track(6), with the edge parallel to the track transport direction. At least one cutting unit (A) below the track has a blade carrier(11) and is lifted(21,9) to bring the blade into contact with the underside after which the blade is horizontally moved(8) in a direction at right angles to the edge in order to remove a ridge portion equal to the effective blade length. The slab is released and moved by an amount equal to this length and the operation repeated until the entire ridge is removed.
