The metal blocks are first fed into an induction oven in which they are heated. The heated blocks are then pushed onto a carriage with a rotating platform. The carriage tips over at the end of its travel and drops the block on a cross transport which feeds the blocks into the extruding press. As the end of the block emerging from the oven has oxidised more than the rear end, the block is rotated through 180 degrees. The rotating platform on which the metal block is first placed has a knurled edge or edge with other high friction finish with which the edge of the platform engages to allow rotation.
