A device for preparing an operating area in surgery, especially in microsurgery, with hooks which can be applied to the wound edges or the like, or corresponding holding elements on tensioning organs, such as bead chains, which can be fixed outside the operating area, should be capable of being used in urological operations for securing the urethra, the male member or similar body parts. To this end, use is made of a polygonal stretching frame (2) consisting of links (6) which are articulated one upon the other and whose corner angles (p) can be alterably fixed, and with crenellated notch elements (22, 23) projecting from the outside of the frame for the tensioning organs (4). In order to afford the possibility of sterilization, these links (6) are preferably made of special steel and (preferably four of them) are articulated one upon the other by means of rivets (7). This stretching frame (2) can be fixed using a single locking screw (8) after choosing the contour of the frame opening and is suitable in particular for operating in the area of the perineum of patients in the lithotomy position.
