In this method, in which the respective characteristic quantity is measured by means of a measuring instrument and the measured value of the characteristic quantity may be remotely transmitted, displayed and possibly processed and possibly stored and in which, when a disturbance occurs, for example when a limit value of a certain characteristic quantity is exceeded, an interruption is effected, the safety requirements in the case of a disturbance are maintained, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, the end of the respective disturbance can be detected in that the interruption of the method is cancelled for such a short time periodically for all or for some method steps when a disturbance occurs, that there is no violation of the safety requirements and/or in that, when a disturbance occurs, the interruption of the method does not affect the method steps which can be continued, maintaining the safety requirements.
