Shut-off device for pneumatic conveying systems for the transport of flowable bulk materials, consisting of a housing, which is inserted into the conveying system, with a through channel for the material and a flat slider arranged transversely to the latter and which is received in the housing by a sealed slider slit, which slider is movable by means of adjustment means through the column of material or respectively through the flow of material in the through channel for the material, and which shuts off or frees the latter, a sealing ring being arranged in the housing surrouding the through channel for the material being pressable by a pressure medium against the flat slider so as to close off the through channel for the material in a pressure-tight manner, characterized in that a) the flat slider (2) is formed so as to be resistant to bending and is only supported with its rear end in the housing (1), but with its front end is constructed so as to be self-supporting, b) a free space (10) is provided in the housing (1) on, the side facing the self-supporting slider end, the volume of which space, is at least equal to the volume of material which is displaced by the flat slider (2) in the closing movement in the through channel (6, 7) for the material, c) the housing (1) is constructed in two parts and a free frontal surface (9) of the housing part (3) on the run-in side, resulting from abroadening of the housing part (4) on the run-out side, serves as a counter surface for the falt slider (2), and d) in the region of the frontal surface (9) an annular groove (12) is provided to receive an inflatable sealing ring (13).
