A thermal treatment chamber for prods. carried on a trolley which is wheeled into the chamber and then rotated about a vertical axis while heating/cooling gas or vapour is directed on to the prods. The rotary drive to the trolley is housed in the base of the chamber. During the rotation, the trolley remains supported on its own wheels which allow it to rotate on its central, vertical axis. The trolley base automatically centres on and engages a rotary drive dog as the trolley is wheeled into the chamber. Hot and/or cold air etc. for circulation inside the chamber is pref. supplied by units mounted on top of the chamber. Used as a thermal treatment chamber partic. for warming, heating, cooking, cooling or refrigerating foodstuffs etc.. The cabinet is partic. applicable to bakeries for controlled proving of bread dough pieces. Cheaper chamber construction is achieved because trolley wheels support trolley during rotation. Space saving and heat energy saving by virtue of modular assembly of chambers.
