Knee sprain protection orthosis - has links joined to thigh and leg supports on leg inside

The knee orthesis protects against sprains while allowing normal flexure and rotation, and comprises supports on thigh and leg joined by links hinging on a common axis perpendicular to the plane of flexure. The link joined to the thigh support (7) and that joined to the leg support (9) are on the inside of the leg and hinge on a spindle secured to a piece applied to the internal condyle of the femur, while the leg support can pivot on an axis coinciding with the lengthwise axis of the link secured to it. An elastic component under tension can join the supports together, tending to slew the leg support to the outside of the body.
