The system uses a number of radiators in different rooms of a building divided into at least two groups. A pickup provides a signal which is proportional to the total current consumed by the electric radiator network. A threshold detector connected to the pickup provides a signal when the current exceeds a certain value in order to disconnect a first group of the radiators for a timed interval. A second timing circuit then disconnects the second group of radiators for a second interval following the first. All the radiators are then reconnected and the cycle may begin again if the current threshold is still exceeded. The time intervals are of the order of a few minutes so that large temperature differences do not arise between different rooms of the building.
