Carriage drive system for overhead surveillance video camera - uses endless cable to guide and drive carriage carrying orientable camera platform

The video camera in a surveillance system is attached to a carriage (1) suspended from an aerial cable (6a,6b) in an endless loop. The carriage is suspended by the axles of pulley wheels (1a) to permit travel inside a rail assembly (2). The rail support (5) comprises a bracket on which the pulleys (5b) are mounted and between which the return section of cable is guided. A lower support bracket (4a) carries another pulley (4c) over which the cable passes. The carriage supports a platform which is orientated in azimuth and elevation to permit movement of the camera and lighting equipment. The necessary cables for power and signals are supported on the support cable by pulleys behind the carriage.
