The gas burner for domestic cookers uses the flame divider as one electrode for ignition and monitoring and has at two parts situated close to each other and to the flame. The flame is lit and then monitored by electric or electronic circuits. The flame divider rests on the part (3) separated by an electrically insulating material (5), and in that one of the parts is connected to conventional ignition and monitoring circuits, as if it were an electrode. The electrically insulating element is an annulus (5) placed between the body of the flame and the flame divider. The body (3) of the burner is earthed and the flame divider has an attachment (9) for an electrical conductor (11) which passes inside the burner.
