摘要
An extraction plant in which a solid is sprinkled and washed with a liq. solvent to extract a solute, e.g. for extn. of sugar by diffusion, is claimed the extractor comprises a number of troughs with laterally cutout overflows. Each trough is supplied with juice which overflows on to material to be treated. A cleaning blade extends longitudinally within the trough and is pivoted about its upper edge. An intermittent rotational movement of the blade about its pivotal axis sweeps deposited waste out of the trough by way of the overflow. The pivotal axis of the cleaning blade is located above the level of the overflow from the trough. The blade is operated periodically to evacuate settled waste from the trough. Cleaning out is more efficient than by previous manual methods. Mechanisation of the blade eliminates tedious manual task. The mechanism is inexpensive, simple, and trouble free.
