Disposing of industrial waste water esp. wool washing - by composting with fragmented lignocellulose material esp. chopped straw

Lignocellulose material such as straw is chopped up and mixed with the waste water. The mixt. is held in permeation tanks for 6 to 8 days during which time the mixt. is periodically compressed. The mixt. is then fermented in batch(es) for a period of about 20 days. Pref. the mixt. is made up of about 10 cubic metres of waste water with 3.1/2 tonnes of straw. Fermentation is pref. carried out in tanks equipped with recuperative heat exchangers to collect heat of fermentation. Compression in each permeation tank is pref. by fluid power cylinders which raise a perforated false bottom to lift mixt. and squeeze it against the underside of a feed/discharge conveyor.
